ILAYATHALAPATHY VIJAY’S COUSIN VIKRANTH IS BACK

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s cousin - Vikranth has his hands full. Post the Muthukku Muthaaga project and an unnoticed act in Sattapadi Kutram , actor Vikranth has signed two fresh deals.

All credit to his CCL fame which has landed him a big project with friend Vishal. It is news that they really bonded well during the matches and Vikranth was soon confirmed for Paandiya Naadu – Vishal’s first home production directed by Suseendran!

The actor tells us, “Vishal is a good friend and I am glad to share screen space with him. He just called me up one day and offered me a wonderful role in Paandiya Naadu. I immediately accepted the role even without hearing the full script as I was sure it must be huge.”

The actor will also have a parallel engagement with Piravi, a flick directed and self produced by brother Sanjeev. Set in a rural milieu, the protagonist works at a fast food joint adjacent to a TASMAC shop,promising a rough and tough show by him.

Thanks to the CCL games, which helped him connect to his new friends and also aided his 10 kg weight loss for his Piravi role! he is now following a strict diet putting his best foot forward and expecting the best is yet to come.

Anirudh is a musical sensation no doubt and his versatile attempts in music has paved off well. The composer is now partying for his next “Vanakam Chennai” that features Shiva and Priya anand in the lead.

As we already know, Anirudh is quite popular in social networking sites; he has recently posted a 40 second teaser song for this upcoming flick.

The song blazes off with “Oh Penne” and a bunch of English lyrics up its way. A remix song whichAnirudh has collaborated with Arjun from UK is out now creating waves already.

Director Shankar’s I is in the last leg of shooting. Vikram, playing the lead, is said to be a body builder in the film.

Amy Jackson is paired with Vikram. AR Rahman scores the music for this film produced by Aascar Film’s Ravichandran.

It is said that Shankar has got the services of the VFX team that worked on Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ series for ‘I.’

Director Shankar updated the status of his upcoming movie ‘I’.

Weta in ‘i’

Hi Everyone,

Oops… Really tired… Shoot went continuously till March 15th. I’m really happy to see that we’ve completed 2/3rd of the movie including four songs, three action sequences and a lot of scenes which are shot around China, Bangkok, Jodhpur,Kodaikanal, Pollachi and Chennai.

The most exciting thing happened is, ‘Weta Workshop’ of ‘Avatar’, ‘Lord of the Rings’ & ‘Hobbit’ fame and run by Richard Taylor & Peter Jackson, is taking an important part in our film in the special make up department. Like Stan Winston Studios played a major role in ‘Enthiran’, Weta is doing in ‘i’.

As a beginning we shot a song in which Vikram had a special make up done by Weta Workshop artist Sean Foot, and Vikram did a top class performance with it. Weta has done a fantastic job which is going to be something new for Indian cinema. And that was a wonderful song composed by AR Rahman, lyrics by Kabilan, choreographed by Bosco-Caesar and shot in a magnificent set erected by our own art director Muthuraj which is stunningly filmed by our master PC Sir. Our producer Ravi sir who’s an ardent lover of songs spent a lot for this one, which is really going to be worth watching I believe. And the balance 1/3rd of the movie will be full ‘N full Weta Workshop’s craft.

Many of you had asked me whether we had recreated China in Kodaikanal, and if the budget of the movie is 150 crores. In China we had got permissions for all the locations we wanted and had finished shooting as per our plan. Kodaikanalscenes are entirely different from China portions, and the budget will be less than 100 crores.

When I was shooting in Bangkok I lost my important technician and family friend, VFX supervisor Venki who worked with me and created magic in ‘Chikku bukku raile’, ‘Mukkala muqabla’, ‘Indian’, ‘Kannodu kanbathellam’ & ‘Mudhalvan’. He’s the first one who created revolution in VFX in Indian cinema and has won fournational awards. My deepest condolences for his family.

Actor Parthiban doesn’t an introduction for his colossal works in Tamil industry. Be his performance or proficiency in film-making, the actor-director has made a trenchant mark. JILLA UNIT COMPLETES THE FIRST ROUND

The Jilla unit comprising of South biggies, Vijay and Mohanlal have wrapped up their first schedule successfully.

The shooting of the first round took place in Chalakudy and some prominent places in Tamilnadu. The team which took time for pre-production will now be moving on to the second schedule which is expected to take off sometime around early June.

Vijay did not take part for two weeks of the first schedule and so will be directly joining the team for its next shooting.

The film also has Poornima Bhagyaraj, Kajal Agarwal, Mahat, Soori and Thambi Ramiah in the casting.

D Imman will be crooning the music for this biggie, with direction by Nesan. The expectation is already huge considering the fact that Vijay has a huge fan base in Kerala as well, now joining hands with Mohanlal has just made things bigger.

LATEST UPDATE ON JILLA

Vijay‘s Thalaivaa might still have few portions pending to be shot, but the actor’s other film Jillawith Mohanlal has already started generating huge waves. While few portions of the films is already complete, the post production works are simultaneously processed.

VISHWAROOPAM-2 BEGINS IN THAILAND

Much prior to the release of Vishwaroopam, Kamal Hassan had already completed canning 50% of the film’s sequel.

Now that the shooting has started, breathtaking action sequence featuring Kamal Hassan andAndrea Jeremiah is being filmed across the sun-kissing beaches of Thailand.

Soon after this schedule, the crew will move over to Bangkok, were few talkie portions will be shot.

VIJAY REFUSED TO STAR IN VENKAT PRABHU’S BIRIYANI?

Director Venkat Prabhu has wrapped the shooting of his upcoming film Biriyani which has Karthiand Hansika Motwani in lead roles.

The first-time pairing on-screen of Karthi and Hansika Motwani and the fact that Venkat Prabhu’s last film Mankatha was a super-duper hit has made the film an exciting prospect among distributors.

Karthi, whose last few films in Saguni and Alex Pandian haven’t fared on the expected lines at the box-office, is badly in need of a hit film to sustain his stature as one of the leading actors inKollywood. Venkat, who has a cent percent record of hit films as a director, hopes to maintain the record.

It now turns out that soon after completing and releasing the Ajith-starrer Mankatha in 2011,Prabhu wanted to make a film starring Vijay in the lead. He reportedly approached Vijay and narrated a script which wasn’t to the star’s liking and Vijay turned the film down. Unfazed, Prabhuapproached Karthi and narrated the same script. Karthi liked it and the script has now been made into Biriyani.

It may be recalled that Vijay had earlier turned down super-hit films such as Dhill and Dhool which were first offered to him. After Vijay’s refusal, they ended up at Vikram’s lap and later became super-duper hits at the box-office. It remains to be seen whether the same fate befalls Biriyani too.Prabhu has, however, not revealed the reason behind naming his film after a most popular dish in the State and the country.

VIJAY & SURYA TO CLASH AGAIN AT THE BOX-OFFICE!

Vijay starrer Thalaivaa and Surya starrer Singam 2 are likely to be released on the same day. The shooting of both the films have been completed.

In Thalaivaa, Amala Paul is pairing with Vijay. This film has been directed by AL Vijay.

Major portions of this film have been shot in Mumbai. The final schedule shooting of this film has taken place in Australia. The audio launch of this film is to take place soon.

Anushka and Hansika Motwani are pairing with Surya in the film Singam 2. Hari has directed this film. This is the sequel to the film Singam. The trailer of this film was released recently. This trailer has captivated the audience.

The post production works of both these films is going in top gear in order to release them in an early date. Big actor films have not been released on the same day in the recent times. Since both the films are likely to be released on the same day, Vijay and Surya fans are getting ready with cut outs and banners to celebrate the releases in a grand manner.

It is understood that both these films are likely to be released during the last week of next month or in the first week of July.

ILAYATHALAPATHY VIJAY’S NEXT WITH M RAJESH NOT WITH AR MURUGADOSS!

There are reports doing rounds that Vijay and AR Murugadoss would team up together after the star completes Jilla.

But we now get to hear that the Ilayathalapathy will be joining hands with M Rajesh next. In fact,Rajesh wanted to cast Vijay in All in All Azhagu Raja and made the script ready for him.

Yes Rajesh M who directed comedy blockbusters like Siva Manusula Sakthi, Boss Engira Baskiren & Oru Kal Oru Kannadi is all set to direct Vijay‘s next which also means AR Murugadoss
project will be taken up by Vijay after completion of this project.

Eventually, Vijay couldn’t do that project and Karthi lapped it up. Therefore, after completing Jilla, the Ilayathalapathy will be joining M Rajesh. In the meantime, Rajesh will wrap up All in All Azhagu Raja.

This rumor initially originated when Vijay was shooting for Thuppaki and Rajesh impressed Vijaywith a interesting comedy action script. Watch this space for more updates.

KAMAL HASSAN TO STAR AND DIRECT LINGUSAMY’S NEXT PRODUCTION

Rumours had been floating in Kollywood about Kamal Hassan working with Lingusamy.

However, it was unclear whether Lingusamy would restrict his role to a mere producer or he would be directing the film as well. It was even said that the Kamal-starrer might by directed by KS Ravi Kumar.

All the speculations have been laid to rest with an official confirmation from Kamal Hassan that he would not only be playing the lead role in the film to be produced by Lingusamy’s Tirupathi Brothers but he would also be directing it. The recent success of Vishwaroopam might have prompted Kamal Hassan to take up the added responsibility, it is felt by critics.

The untitled film is to be the Tamil remake of a popular Hindi film and would be made simultaneously in both Tamil and Telugu. Kamal would be playing the hero in both the versions andYuvan Shankar Raja might be scoring the music for the film for the first time in his decade-long career.

Meanwhile, another feather has been added to Kamal’s cap with his 1988 hit film Pesum Padam(Pushpak in Hindi) getting selected to be screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

The amazing thing about the film is that despite 25 years after its release in theaters, it is still novel and fine enough to merit selection for screening at a popular film festival!

Simbu has two films lined up for the year, “Vaalu” and “Vettaimannan“. The upcoming film ‘Vaalu” has Hansika Motwani, Santhanam and VTV Ganesh starring along with him in important roles and this team is captained by debutante director Vijay Chander.

ANIRUDH BAGS VIJAY-AR MURUGADOSS’S NEXT

While Vijay fans are rejoicing to hear that the superstar will be working with director AR Murugadoss again post ‘Thuppaki‘, here’s latest update on the movie front.

Buzz is that the untitled film has brought ‘Kolaveri‘ musical hero Anirudh on board. Initially, rumours had it that the filmmaker will be working with Harris Jayaraj, since they had given success hattricks earlier with ‘Thuppaki‘, ‘7am Arivu‘ and ‘Ghajini‘. However it has been now finalised that Anirudhwill make our Thalapathy dance to his tunes, literally!

But now sadly the young talent wouldn’t be able to don grease paint. News had been that Anirudhwill debuting as a actor in ‘Poda Podi‘ famed Vignesh Shiva‘s next venture. Now with new responsibility on hand, apparently Anirudh‘s acting dream has to wait.

“This is a prestigious project and I have my hands full with music composing assignments currently,” the young composer said in an interview.

Incidentally, Anirudh also has Elred Kumar‘s untitled project on hand.

There have been speculations about the audio release of Ilayathalapathy Vijay‘s upcoming film,Thalaivaa.

The music director of the film, GV Prakash Kumar, has now come forward and made the announcement that the audio will be launched on Vijay‘s birthday, which is June 22nd.

The composer added that he will be unveiling the track list of the film on June 13th as a prequel to the celebrations.

Vijay himself has sung a song in the film. The song, which has the lines Vaanganna Vanakkanganna, as a part of the track, has already surfaced online. However, the rest of the songs in the album will come out only after the launch. It indeed looks like a big treat for Vijay fans.

Then there were movies with hype and hoola, silently trekking up the hill were movies with a powerful storyline cast with some brilliant actors. One such actor who believes in power packed acting for a movie that weighs on storyline is Sasikumar.

This will be his next movie post Sundarapandian, and he has one of the promising actresses of Kollywood paired up. The very young but serene Lakshmi menon after her Kumki will be a part of this movie set in Village milieu. The pair are reprising their chemistry after their previous outing.

The movie is slated for a May 30 release and expectations are slowly building up as Red Giants have taken up the distribution task. The movie is to be directed by Mutthiah who was a former associate of Bhoopathy pandian.

Village theatres are producing this movie after a successful venture with Vagai Sooda Vaa.Vaagai Sooda Vaa had Ghibran crooning the music with some spellbound music numbers and he has given some classic village melodious numbers here as well.

The story is set in and around the temple town of Sriveliputur and is supposed to be a love story with a twist. When quizzed about this movie to Sasikumar he reveals that movies where love can change the world are not something new, and here is a violent man who drops his knife to take a rose in his hand. Also said to be a female centric movie which has a lot of values clubbed in it.

Though the audio launch was a quite affair, the movie’s distribution rights was bagged for a hefty price and theatrical rights are bang on as well. Albeit the this emotional action packed movie is slated for a May 30 release.
